walking to school

My two daughters and I have made a commitment to walk to school as often as possible - for the environment and for our health. The walk is about 2km each way (4km a day for them, 8 km for me).

We love it most days. We talk, we laugh, we enjoy each other's company.

Vurv Design: I belong to the North American manufacturing middle class. I design and hand-build modern, minimal furniture and residential interior pieces. I believe that as a culture, we have lost our way. We cannot thrive in an economy that lost its pride in what it produces. Service industry jobs will not sustain a middle class. A strong middle class means a strong democracy. Join me, and others like me, to champion in a new era that rejects a culture of rampant consuming, in favour of a culture that values human labour, individual achievements, and a new pride in what human hands can produce.
